No matter the size or budget of your project, we’ll work through stages of planning, strategizing, executing, and finally the deliverables. Unsure of how that process looks? For some peace of mind, let’s walk through what it looks like:
Act I: Concept
Goal: Understand the concept of the project based on the script or other creative elements in order to create initial directional sketches.
This is the phase for us to get into character! In order to craft an impactful score, it’s important to not just know the project, but also get to know you and what motivates you to create it.
We will always start out with a video call to discuss your needs, covering topics such as:
Is there a direction or inspiration for the music in mind?
How much music is needed?
What is the timeline?
What is the personal significance of the project for you?
Is there a core message or theme?
What is the budget? (Curious to know how much your project may cost? Take a look at my post about it: So how much does music cost?)
Primarily, this is time for research, ensuring the project starts out on the right foot: in alignment with your needs.
Act II: Development
Goal: Based on scene break-down or spotting sessions, begin developing cues.
Now that we’ve gotten to know each other, it’s time to bring your vision to life. This is where the music begins to develop! Time may be spent one-on-one analyzing scenes to determine key moments or emotions to highlight. The inspiration and direction has already been established to ensure the first note played is already cohesive with your vision. Time will be spent on composition and recording, where initial sketches are further explored together and developed into full cues.
Act III: Finalization
Goal: Based on revisions and feedback, finalize a score that is in line with the emotional and narrative tone of the project.
Every project requires even small revisions. My highest priority is to translate your vision and feedback into a curated score that is both fitting and balanced with your project, so that final deliverables are impactful and memorable!
